About Insol
INSOL New Zealand is a group whose members are also members of INSOL International.
INSOL New Zealand is closely affiliated with the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants of New
Zealand "The Institute".
INSOL New Zealand has branches in the following centres:
- Auckland
- Wellington
- Christchurch
Purpose and Objectives
The key purpose of the group will be to provide regular professional development
sessions on topics suited to the membership of the group. Our objects include the
following:
- To provide opportunities for members to meet, and to provide members with information
relating to insolvency law, practice and administration and obligations of insolvency
practitioners. This may include circulating publications, maintaining a library, providing
facilities for delivery of lectures and organising seminars or conferences.
- To monitor insolvency legislation, to promote or support legislation which furthers the
common interest of insolvency practitioners, lenders, creditors and the general public,
and promote or sponsor research on insolvency issues.
- To obtain, or assist members in obtaining, legal advice on or judicial determination of
any question of general importance or interest to members or insolvency practitioners.
- To co-operate with any association or corporation whose objects are generally similar to
those of the Group, and in particular to co-operate with the International Association of
Insolvency Practitioners (INSOL International).
- To affiliate with, or subscribe to, any association or corporation whose objects are
generally similar to those of the Group, if that association or corporation cannot
distribute its income and property amongst its members, except as grants for educational
research purposes.
INSOL New Zealand has the following powers which are exercised by its Committee:
- To acquire any property which the Committee considers necessary for the attainment of
any of the objects of the Group.
- To deal with or dispose of any of the property of the Group.
- To promote and hold functions of any kind and use any funds obtained from these
functions to further the objects of the Group. The Group is entitled to charge for these
functions, and they may or may not be for the exclusive benefit of the members of the
Group.
- To raise funds by registration fees and sponsorship and any other means whatsoever, to
be used for the attainment of the objects of the Group.
- To invest funds of the Group which are not required for immediate use with any bank or
like institution approved by the Committee or through the Institute.
- To do such other things as the Committee considers may contribute to the attainment of
any of the objects of the Group.
Meetings
The Wellington and Christchurch branches of INSOL New Zealand hold meetings on a
regular basis.
The Auckland branch of INSOL New Zealand currently meet on the second Wednesday of each
month from February to December.
Typically, each meeting is made up of one to one and a half hours of continuing
professional development in the form of an educational presentation.
Each meeting will have time allocated so that any general business can be addressed and
discussed.
At the beginning or conclusion of each meeting, refreshments may be served so that
members can engage in some networking and fellowship.
