Tim Groser, MP, National Party
Until recently, Tim Groser was New
Zealand’s Ambassador to the World Trade Organization (WTO),
and Chair of Agricultural Negotiations for the WTO. Tim
was elected to the New Zealand Parliament as a List MP
in the 2005 General Election, and has recently been
appointed National’s Spokesman for Trade due to his
experience in this area. Tim also serves as an
Associate Spokesman for Finance.
Tim
has served New Zealand with distinction in a number of
capacities, including being New Zealand’s Chief
Negotiator in the GATT Uruguay Round: the Round that
brought agriculture into the system of world trade rules
for the first time and conferred substantial benefits on
the New Zealand economy.
After completing his education at
Victoria University, Tim served as a policy advisor in a
number of key Departments including Treasury, Ministry
of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the Prime Minister’s
Advisory Group.

Presenter
James Douglas is
a specialist in commercial disputes and insolvency
matters. He began his career at Minter Ellison Rudd
Watts in 1991. From 1994 to 2007 he practised law in
London, spending five years as a partner in the leading
financial restructuring practice of Cadwalader,
Wickersham & Taft LLP. In 2008 James rejoined Minter
Ellison Rudd Watts as a partner.
James has extensive experience in the litigation,
arbitration and mediation of commercial disputes,
including disputes arising out of corporate joint
ventures, debt financings, derivatives and corporate
insolvencies. In the insolvency field, James has
represented key stakeholders in corporate debt
restructurings and acted for officeholders in major
insolvencies.
